“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 NIV
Pastor Lance Klessig
"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace." Acts 20:24 NIV
I came to Christ at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota during my Freshman year after meeting Christians who were a part of the Navigators Campus Ministry. I began to grow and eventually took on leadership responsibilities in the organization. The Navigators helped develop my “world-vision,” or desire to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. I went to graduate school at Southern Illinois University to be trained in city and regional planning. When I graduated in 1979, I came in contact with the Great Commission Church through a friend. I had been looking for many years for a church that would provide an outlet for my gifts and world-vision and I finally found it. I then got a job in Eau Claire as a planner. My family and I got involved with Cedarcreek Community Church, a sister church to Coulee Rock, from the day that we moved into town. After being a part of the church for over 8 years, I was ordained in June, 1983 and became a Cedarcreek pastor. In June of 2013, I became a co-pastor of Coulee Rock Community Church. My wife Sandy and I are blessed with 3 children and 8 wonderful grandchildren. In my free time, I enjoy wood working, home improvements, golf, fishing, and fixing up my 1959 Ford tractor. I have a passion for sharing the gospel and discipleship training of men.
I grew up in Amherst, WI just outside of Stevens Point on a farm with my parents and younger brother. In 2001 while attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, I joined several campus ministries and eventually accepted Christ as a part of Campus Crusade for Christ. I later joined The Edge, a campus ministry affiliated with Cedarcreek Community Church in Eau Claire, WI. As a part of this ministry, I developed deep Christian friendships, grew in Christian disciplines, took on leadership roles, and went on several mission trips. During this time, I also met my wife Chrissy. We were married in 2006. We have three young boys Eli, Liam, and Grayson, and a daughter Adalynn. In 2009, we felt called to go on a church plant sent out from Cedarcreek Community Church in Eau Claire to the Coulee Region. Along with 22 other adults and 18 kids, we moved to La Crosse to help start Coulee Rock Community Church. In February 2014, I was ordained as a Co-Pastor within Coulee Rock Community Church. I am a tent-making Pastor in that I also have a full-time job in Natural Resources Management. Within the church, I have a passion for organization, building community, and small group ministry. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and in God's creation - fishing, hunting, hiking, and gardening.

I am from a small town south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. Although I grew up going to church the awesome, intimate, and individual love God has for each of us didn’t sink in until I was in college. While attending the University of North Dakota, I met some Godly men who loved me and showed me what it meant to truly follow God & live for His glory. Through their relentless love, prayer, and service, I began to understand how much God loves each of us, including me. I put my faith in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior in 1999. That decision has defined my life, giving it fullness, purpose, and meaning ever since. I married the woman of my dreams, Tracy, in 2005. We’ve since been blessed with five of the most incredible kids: Seraiah, Bella, Curry, Sami & Jaxon. I served Cottonwood Community Church in Grand Forks until 2007 when my family & I were sent to help plant Harvest Church in Warren, MN. I was recognized as a pastor in 2008 and served as one of the pastors at Harvest for eleven years before becoming part of the Coulee Rock Pastoral team in 2018. I am intent on living a life desperate for God, passionate in prayer, and deeply committed to God’s people.
