Beginnings: The Tower & Languages

Greetings,
This morning I was struck by the following verse in Mark:
Mark 9:4 (ESV) “And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.”
This situation encouraged me about the resurrection. Moses had died 1500 years before this and Elijah some 700 years. Here they were having a conversation with Jesus who was in His human body and living on the earth. It encourages me that 1) they were identifiable as themselves; 2) they were conversing with each other; and 3) they were understanding historical events because in Luke’s account they were discussing His upcoming passion and departure which both Moses and Elijah had previously went through. This truth gives me assurance that when we pass from this life so much will be familiar that it takes away some of the fear of death.
This Sunday join us as we continue our summer Genesis series with Paul Runnoe speaking about the development of nations and the rebellion at the Tower of Babel. Both of which had huge significance in shaping the world as we know it today.
We are starting something new and want to make you aware of it. In the hallway by the office, there is a bulletin board. On it we will have 3x5 cards with various maintenance projects around the building. Our building is the first thing visitors see and the only thing that people in the community see about us. Therefore, we need to make a good impression. It is hard to keep up on weeds growing, leaves falling and lawn and landscape care. Taking on a project is a great way to involve your kids in serving as well as helping the church community. Check it out!
You can still join our Outreach Tune-up this coming Tuesday, July 31st from 6:30 – 8 pm.
